Ahi Tuna Steaks with Thyme and Shallots
This elegant sauce complements the tuna, and is quick to prepare.
Ingredients
- 4 shallots, finely chopped
- 1⁄2 cup white wine
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 each ahi tuna steaks, 8 ounces
Directions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Heat shallots, wine, water and lemon juice in saucepan over grill. Stir in butter, thyme and salt. Simmer sauce over indirect heat while cooking tuna.
- Lightly coat tuna with vegetable oil. Place on grill for 4 minutes. Turn. Grill for approximately 3 more minutes until internal temperature reaches 125° F.
- Pour warm sauce over tuna to serve.
