Ahi Tuna Steaks with Thyme and Shallots

This elegant sauce complements the tuna, and is quick to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 4 shallots, finely chopped
  • 1⁄2 cup white wine
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1⁄2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 each ahi tuna steaks, 8 ounces

Directions

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Heat shallots, wine, water and lemon juice in saucepan over grill. Stir in butter, thyme and salt. Simmer sauce over indirect heat while cooking tuna.
  • Lightly coat tuna with vegetable oil. Place on grill for 4 minutes. Turn. Grill for approximately 3 more minutes until internal temperature reaches 125° F.
  • Pour warm sauce over tuna to serve.
