Matthews, N.C. – Harris Teeter announced today the launch of its Backpack Boosters Round Up Campaign to help provide nutritious meals to children-in-need.

Now through Jan. 26, shoppers are invited to round up their transaction to the nearest whole dollar to support this effort. The funds collected through Backpack Boosters will benefit local food bank backpack programs which provide nutritious meals and snacks to families-in-need across Harris Teeter’s operating areas.

“For many children, school lunches may be the only meal they receive each day, and with many schools cancelling in-person learning due to the pandemic, these children are faced with the uncertainty of knowing when and where their next meal will come from,” said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “Through this campaign, we’re able to help our local food bank partners place meals in the homes of food insecure children, allowing them to focus on their education and not an empty stomach.”

Harris Teeter is proud to partner food banks throughout its marketing areas to help eliminate hunger for food insecure families throughout the year. Both Harris Teeter’s food bank and food pantry partners are assigned stores within their service areas to ensure 100% of the funds collected through this campaign remain local to the community in which the donation is made.

Harris Teeter, with headquarters in Matthews, N.C., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR).
