Bogle Cabernet

Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon

Bogle contributes to sustainability with a conscious effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Bogle family is also currently one of just a few wineries who pays a bonus to winegrowers who enroll their vineyards in the Certified Green guidelines. By doing this Bogle is not only growing grapes in an environmentally responsible manner but also encouraging others to grow sustainably as well.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes lingered on the vines well into Autumn, soaking up sun filled California days and cool, crisp nights to achieve their complex flavors. We think the wait was worth it. Opening with dense fruit notes of dried cherry and plum compote, our Cabernet Sauvignon captivates the nose and palate. Hints of clove, nutmeg and burnt caramel are imparted through 12 months of aging in American oak barrels. Dusty tannins give way to a concentrated mouthfeel, with ample structure and balance to ensure this wine will age well for years to come. Pairs well with rib-eye steaks and blue cheese.

Chalk Hill Chardonnay

Chalk Hill Estate Chardonnay

We are dedicated to making exceptional Chardonnay, and no detail is overlooked. In the vineyard, focused planting of the ideal clone on each vineyard block, managing yields for optimum ripeness and balance, and the work of a dedicated crew are among the keys to our success. Chardonnay is a winemaker’s grape, molded into its most interesting self by native yeast fermentation and aging in carefully chosen French oak barrels and frequent lees stirring. It is a labor-intensive wine, but the rewards are most certainly worth the hard work and attention.

This Chardonnay exhibits beguiling aromas of orange peel, pears, juicy peaches and baked bread. On the palate it is rich and creamy with notes of lemon curd, apple pie, stone fruit and balanced minerality. Our Chardonnay is known for its long, rich and elegant finish, and this vintage is no exception.

Cline Zinfandel

Cline Old Vine Zinfandel

We begin by entirely destemming and lightly crushing the grapes to preserve fruit and reduce extraction of harsh tannins. Fermentation followed in temperature controlled, open-top, cement tanks. The fermenters were pumped over three times daily and once dry, the wine was pressed and allowed to go through a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is racked and aged for approximately 12 months on 35% French Oak.

Old Vine Zinfandel is a great expression of fresh strawberry the varietal is known for while at the same time possessing the complex flavors of spice and vanilla. The wine has excellent balance and delivers a lot of flavor and finesse.

As farmers, we believe if you take care of the earth, the earth will take care of you. As winemakers, our goal is to ensure the purest expression of “place” as we move from grapes to glass. So, our definition of sustainability is pretty direct: We make our wines in a way that nurtures the earth and brings the special characteristics of Sonoma County into every bottle of Frei Brothers Reserve. These practices include preserving land for wild life, transplanting trees on the property, preserving and redeveloping wet lands, and converting to more recyclable packaging, labels, and corks.

This wine displays flavors of green apple, orange zest and apple pie, complemented by notes of butter and toast. The rich, nutty flavors in this chardonnay lead to a silky finish and a plush mouthfeel.
