Harris Teeter Presents 34th Annual Chef's Best Fundraiser

Featuring James Beard award nominated Chef Katie Button, event to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

MATTHEWS, N.C. - Harris Teeter is proud to announce the return of its signature Chef's Best fundraiser, supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in their mission to end hunger. This year's event on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, promises an unforgettable evening of Spanish-inspired cuisine crafted by celebrated chef, cookbook author, media personality, and Cúrate co-founder, Katie Button, featuring tapas, charcuterie, desserts, and more, alongside live entertainment, auctions and raffles.

The event will take place in the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center, with Spanish-style tapas service beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Every dollar raised through Chef's Best directly supports Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina's mission to eliminate hunger throughout 24 counties across North Carolina and South Carolina. In fiscal year 2023-2024, the Food Bank distributed almost 90 million pounds of food, with over 54 million pounds of their annual distribution being fresh produce, meat, and dairy. The 2024 event generated an impressive $500,000 to help feed families in need.

"Food insecurity affects too many families in our region, and events like Chef's Best demonstrate the power of community collaboration," said Danna Robinson, director of corporate affairs and customer relations at Harris Teeter. "We're grateful for our continued partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and excited to welcome Chef Katie Button to help us make a difference. Her culinary expertise promises to make this year's event both delicious and impactful."

This year's featured chef, Katie Button, is a five-time James Beard Foundation award nominee, cookbook author, and founder of Cúrate lifestyle brands, which houses Asheville's acclaimed Cúrate Bar de Tapas restaurant, home goods marketplace Cúrate at Home, and Cúrate Trips. Her background includes training under renowned chefs Ferran Adrià and José Andrés, leading to her success with the Button Meana Group and Cúrate Bar de Tapas, which won the 2022 James Beard Foundation Outstanding Hospitality award. Katie has also been an active force in rebuilding Asheville’s hospitality industry following 2024’s devastating Hurricane Helene and is currently a member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Western North Carolina Recovery.

A highlight of the evening will be Chef Button's live culinary demonstrations, offering guests the opportunity to see her Spanish-inspired techniques in action.

The Chef's Best fundraiser reflects Harris Teeter's ongoing commitment to community partnerships that make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
