Harris Teeter to Host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Events on Saturday, April 25, 2026

Event made possible with support from the Cardinal Health Foundation

Matthews, NC – Harris Teeter, with support from the Cardinal Health Foundation, the charitable non-profit of Cardinal Health, announced its participation in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25. On this day, individuals can safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications at participating local pharmacies.

For more than a decade, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has helped people across the United States rid their homes of unneeded or expired medications. The proper disposal of medications can save lives and contribute to keeping our environment and community safe and healthy.

Saturday, April 25, 2026 – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Stonecrest Shopping Center: 7852 Rea Rd, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Morrocroft Village Shopping Center: 6701 Morrison Blvd, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Smith Farm Shopping Center: 4701 Smith Farm Rd, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Chapel Hill North Shopping Center: 1800 Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy, Chapel Hill, N.C.

The listed drug take back events are scheduled from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. local time at participating local pharmacies. Law enforcement officers will be on site to accept unwanted or expired pills, liquids, gels and patches outside stores (no medications will be accepted inside stores). Acceptance of liquids, gels and patches may vary by location.

Since 2018, we’ve collaborated with Cardinal Health and local law enforcement to host drug take back events in the communities we serve. Cardinal Health events have collected over 158,000 pounds of unused or expired medications.
