Modified Store Hours & Services

Modified Store Hours: To focus on cleaning, replenishment, and the well-being of our valued associates, we have modified our store hours. Effective Thursday, March 19, our stores will operate 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.

Senior Shopping:

Effective Monday, March 30, Harris Teeter is now designating TWO hours every Monday and Thursday morning from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. as senior shopping hours for shoppers aged 60 and over. Pharmacies will open at 7 a.m., and we will have more fresh offerings available.

To further enhance our commitment to protecting our senior shoppers, Harris Teeter will designate ExpressLane Online Shopping pick-up times from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for seniors only every Thursday until further notice AND will waive the $4.95 fee & offer $5 delivery for seniors during these times.

This will allow our senior shoppers to take advantage of their 5% Senior Club discount every Thursday, and it will provide a genuine opportunity for our senior shoppers to purchase what they need while practicing the CDC’s recommended social distancing guidelines.

Refund Policy: Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are temporarily suspending product returns. If any fresh produce, meat, seafood or deli product does not meet our quality standards, we will continue to replace it or issue a refund.

Product Limits: Harris Teeter is working tirelessly with its supply partners to source the items you need most. In doing our best to serve our shoppers, we have placed a limit of three (3) items each for the following categories:

Water

Toilet Tissue

Canned Meat

Pasta

Cleaning Supplies

Airborne, Cold, Flu & Allergy

ExpressLane Orders: Due to an increase in ExpressLane orders, your local Harris Teeter may experience minor delays with orders. If any issues arise with your order, including a delay in completing your order and/or any out of stock items, your Personal Shopper will contact you to notify you of the issue.

To expedite your shopping experience and further practice social distancing, we encourage shoppers to pay online using a credit or debit card.

Rain Checks: Due to the inconsistent restock conditions from our manufacturers, we are unable to ensure reliable in-stock conditions. We will not issue rainchecks for out of stock sale items until further notice.

Fundraising Events & Store Tours: To focus on cleaning, replenishment, and the well-being of our valued associates, Harris Teeter has made the difficult decision to suspend all fundraising events and store tours until further notice.


Associate & Shopper Safety

Reusable Bags: Shoppers who choose to bring their own reusable bags will be asked to bag their purchases.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing reusable grocery bags often. Cloth bags should be washed in a washing machine, and plastic-lined bags should be scrubbed using hot water and soap.

Social Distancing: We invite you to practice social distancing while shopping your Harris Teeter. Social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. When possible, please maintain a distance of at least six feet to protect yourself, your fellow shoppers and our valued associates.

In-store Seating Reduction/Removal: We are adhering to mandates and recommendations from federal, state and local agencies, including the CDC and other health organizations.

Personal Protective EquipmentWe’ve installed protective shields at check stands, Customer Service and Pharmacy counters to provide additional protection for our valued associates and shoppers. 

Associate Appreciation & Hiring

Appreciation Pay: We are extremely appreciative and incredibly proud of our Harris Teeter family for their tireless and selfless work.

We’re providing hourly associates in retail, distribution center, manufacturing and corporate offices a one-time bonus of $300 for every full-time associate and $150 for every part-time associate. The company has also shared with associates its newly created Emergency Leave Guidelines.

HERO Bonus: Harris Teeter is proud to announce a temporary increase of $2/hour for our Retail Heroes, our hourly associates. The increased hourly rate will begin April 1 and remain effective through April 21,2020.
