COVID-19 Relief Efforts

We are proud to announce a donation of 640,000 pounds of much needed nutritious protein and produce to help feed community members in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With support from our generous vendor partners, nearly 20 truckloads carrying more than 534,000 meals were distributed to local food banks across our operating areas.  Click here to learn more.

Store Operations & Services

Store Hours: Effective Wednesday, May 13, our stores will resume normal operating hours. Click here to determine your Harris Teeter's hours of operation.

Senior Shopping:

Effective Monday, March 30, Harris Teeter is now designating TWO hours every Monday and Thursday morning from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. as senior shopping hours for shoppers aged 60 and over. We will also have more fresh offerings available.

To further enhance our commitment to protecting our senior shoppers, Harris Teeter will designate ExpressLane Online Shopping pick-up times from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for seniors only every Thursday until further notice AND will waive the $4.95 fee & offer $5 delivery for seniors during these times.

This will allow our senior shoppers to take advantage of their 5% Senior Club discount every Thursday, and it will provide a genuine opportunity for our senior shoppers to purchase what they need while practicing the CDC’s recommended social distancing guidelines.

We invite other vulnerable populations to shop during this designated time, as well.

Product Limits:  To ensure all shoppers have access to what they need, we’ve proactively and temporarily set purchase limits to two per customer on the following categories:

Paper towels

Toilet tissue

Household cleaning

Canned meat

Canned seafood

Canned pasta

Ready to serve soup

Facial tissue

Disposable cups and plates

Pain relief

Vitamins

Digestive health

ExpressLane Orders: Due to an increase in ExpressLane orders, your local Harris Teeter may experience minor delays with orders. If any issues arise with your order, including a delay in completing your order and/or any out of stock items, your Personal Shopper will contact you to notify you of the issue.

To expedite your shopping experience and further allow safe physical distancing and contactless service, beginning May 26, we will accept online-only payments (excluding EBT) for all ExpressLane orders.

Rain Checks: Due to the inconsistent restock conditions from our manufacturers, we are unable to ensure reliable in-stock conditions. We will not issue rainchecks for out of stock sale items until further notice.

Fundraising Events & Store Tours: To focus on cleaning, replenishment, and the well-being of our valued associates, Harris Teeter has made the difficult decision to suspend all fundraising events and store tours until further notice.

 Associate & Shopper Safety

Reusable Bags: Shoppers who choose to bring their own reusable bags will be asked to bag their purchases.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing reusable grocery bags often. Cloth bags should be washed in a washing machine, and plastic-lined bags should be scrubbed using hot water and soap.

Physical Distancing: We invite you to practice physical distancing while shopping your Harris Teeter. Physical distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. When possible, please maintain a distance of at least six feet to protect yourself, your fellow shoppers and our valued associates.

To practice safe social distancing at checkout, look for the "Stand Here" floor decals.

Customer Capacity Limit: Customer and Associate safety is our top priority. Effective April 8 by 5pm, we will limit the number of customers to 50% of building code capacity to further support physical distancing in our stores.

In-store Seating Reduction/Removal: We are adhering to mandates and recommendations from federal, state and local agencies, including the CDC and other health organizations.

Face Masks and Facial Coverings:

ASSOCIATES: Effective, Tuesday, April 21, Harris Teeter’s valued associates will wear masks or other face coverings at work. This includes stores, distribution centers and facilities.

This decision aligns with CDC guidelines, brings consistency across our stores and promotes the safety and well-being our valued associates and our shoppers. Harris Teeter will provide all associates with a face covering, or associates can provide their own as long as they adhere to Harris Teeter's uniform policy.

SHOPPERS:  Effective, Wednesday July 22, we will require all shoppers to wear a mask when visiting our stores, joining our associates who continue to wear masks. We are taking this extra step now because we recognize additional precautions are needed to protect our country.

We respect and acknowledge that some shoppers, due to medical reasons, may not be able to wear a mask (small children are exempt). We encourage those shoppers to consider an alternative option like a face shield or facial covering. If they’re unable to wear a mask or an alternative design, our expertly trained associates will be happy to shop for them through our ExpressLane Online Shopping service, or they may choose to take advantage of delivery options where available.

We thank our valued associates and shoppers for partnering with us to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

Harris Teeter will continue to provide all associates with a mask, or associates can provide their own so long as they follow our uniform policies.

Temperature Checks & Health Screenings: To further protect our valued associates and shoppers, effective May 6, we will check the temperature of every associate and ask health screening questions at the beginning of each shift.

Personal Protective EquipmentWe’ve installed protective shields at check stands, Customer Service and Pharmacy counters to provide additional protection for our valued associates and shoppers.
