DIY Upcycled Charging Station
Upcycled Charging Station
DIY Difficulty Level: 2 (Moderate)
Use your empty containers to hide unsightly cords and keep electronics close-to-hand! This craft is so easy, you’ll want to make an upcycled charging station for every room!
- Lotion Container – cleaned out and labels removed
- Box Cutter
- Heavy-duty Scissors
- Mod Podge
- Paint brush
Outline the cleaned container with the shape you’ll need for your charger. A low profile in front with a tall rectangle back is preferred. Carefully insert a box cutter into the container and slice a long enough strip to insert scissors.
Complete cutting out the charger unit with heavy duty scissors. On the back side of the charger, match up with your charging block and trace. Using the box cutter, cut out that piece from the container as well.
Coat the shaped container with a thick coat of Mod Podge. While wet, line up your fabric to completely cover your charging unit like a tube. Ensure that the fabric is smooth then paint another layer of Mod Podge on top.
Cut the fabric away from the top, back and bottom of the container. Trace the bottom of the container on a scrap of the same fabric. Spread a layer of Mod Podge on the bottom of the container, and adhere the fabric. Coat with an additional layer of Mod Podge on top of the fabric. Allow to dry completely before use.
Hold the charging unit up to your outlet and place your charging block through the hole and into the outlet. Plug in your charger cable and phone, place them in the charging station, and enjoy!
