What is Harris Teeter’s giving program guidelines?
Harris Teeter believes in getting involved in our communities. While we strive to help as many organizations and the people they serve as possible, we can’t meet everyone’s needs so we have focused our giving into three main areas:
Eliminating Hunger
Educating Children
Serving a Specific Community Needs

How can I request a contribution?
Harris Teeter believes in giving back to the communities it serves. To help us accomplish this goal we focus our giving on five main areas: eliminating hunger, educating children, promoting children’s wellness, non-profit partnerships and disaster relief.

Does your organization have the same vision?

If so, please plan ahead. Submit your request at least 6 weeks prior to the date you need to confirm your sponsors. To complete the request you will need to state what you would like Harris Teeter to donate (cash, product, gift cards); the date you need the contribution; and a copy of your 501 © (3) status.

Proposals exceeding $5,000 are reviewed annually and need to reach us by Aug 1 in order to be considered for the upcoming fiscal year.

When supporting our focus areas, we prefer to give directly to a non-profit organization with a specific project rather than fundraising efforts such as golf tournaments, dinners, or advertising.  Harris Teeter can not contribute to individuals, deficit reduction or operating reserves; trips, tours or student exchange programs; or fund drives conducted by religious or political organizations; or scholarship funds outside of Harris Teeter’s own program.

If you are interested in scheduling a fundraising event at Harris Teeter, please click here to request your fundraising event. Please note, you will be required to login or create a profile on our site.

  1. Harris Teeter limits outside fundraisers to two events, per store, per month.
  2. Harris Teeter does not allow more than one fundraising event to take place in its stores at a time. During months in which Harris Teeter holds point of purchase contribution programs at its registers, we will not allow fundraising events outside of our stores.
  3. You must submit a fundraising request 4 weeks in advance of the event. You will be allowed to choose 3 Harris Teeter store locations to hold your event. We will begin with your first request and if it is not available, will move on to your second and then your third choice. If you are unable to select/locate the store in which you would like to hold your event, it has been previously reserved during your selected time period.
*Note: You must be a registered 501 (c)(3) organization to apply. Fundraising events are not allowed in our Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, VA area, Maryland, Delaware, and DC markets or at our Distribution Centers. Only Together in Education linking events are allowed in our Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, VA area, Maryland, Delaware, and DC markets. It is important to remember that a wide variety of organizations request to solicit outside of our stores. To ensure that we help as many organizations as possible, each non-profit agency is allowed to solicit two times a year, per store.
