Harris Teeter® is proud to introduce Oak Creek™, a family of new wines made exclusively for Harris Teeter®. Oak Creek™ Vineyards makes fine wines that reflect both the varietal and the superb growing conditions of California.
Oak Creek™ Cabernet is big, bold and rich. The Merlot is plump, juicy and round. And the Chardonnay is buttery, floral and rich. "Harris Teeter® is excited to be able to offer three consistent, quality wines at a great price," says Ed Cook, Director Beer and Wine at Harris Teeter.
Mark Rasmussen oversees all winemaking activities at Oak Creek™. He joined Golden State Vintners in 1992 and serves as Senior Winemaker for the company's entire wine brand portfolio. He brings with him years of experience and first-hand knowledge of cultivating fine wines.
Under Rasmussen's watchful eye, Oak Creek™ has modified their farming methods over the years in an effort to produce grapes that are riper, denser and more intensely flavored.
"The winery uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques to retain freshness and enhance the bouquet and texture of the three varieties we offer," notes Rasmussen.
"We harvest at night for better fruit expression, and use techniques such as cold pre-soaks and micro-oxygenation to make the best wine possible," he adds.
Oak Creek Wines
Chardonnay: fruit-forward with aromas of apple, pineapple and melon. Enjoy this crisp Chardonnay with salmon paired with a lemon sauce or a Caesar salad.
Cabernet Sauvignon: woody accents of vanilla and oak. Pair this round Cabernet Sauvignon with red meat or aged Gouda cheese.
Merlot: a delicate nose of black currant and raspberry. Serve this aromatic Merlot with grilled lamb shank or luscious roasts.
Pinot Grigio: smooth flavors of tropical fruits and accents of apple, peach and melon. It's the perfect companion to linguine with clams or grilled halibut.
Sangria: infused with tropical fruits of citrus and berries. Best enjoyed chilled, over ice or even with a spritz of lemon-lime soda as a perfect red enjoyed outdoors.
Sweet White: a refreshing fruity wine bursting with floral aromas and delicious sweetness. Enjoy this wine nicely chilled with salad, chicken or creamy pasta dishes.
Sweet Red: a light-bodied red, made to be chilled. It has more body and flavor than blush wine and it’s softer than traditional red wines. Pair with light sauced pasta.
White Zinfandel: a refreshing fruit-forward wine with soft aromas of ripe strawberries and raspberries. Pair this with Baked Brie Wrapped in Puffed Pastry.
