Responsibly Sourced Seafood
Sustainable Seafood for Generations to Come
Harris Teeter prides itself on offering the highest quality seafood from sustainable sources. We are committed to long-term partnerships with fisherman, communities and suppliers that practice and support responsible fishing and sustainable management of our rivers and oceans.
Our commitment ensures that our seafood partners maintain the highest standards whether they are providing Harris Teeter wild caught fish or farm raised seafood. As stewards of our environment, we realize by investment in our oceans and rivers today we will provide our children and future generations the health benefits provided by fish and seafood for years to come.
Globally, as more people become health-conscious consumers and demand increases for seafood it is critical to support sustainable fishing and aquaculture practices. Sustainable fishing practices allow any particular threatened fish populations to recover to a healthy level. This is accomplished by an extensive fisheries management system both domestically and internationally using sound scientific evidence and advice.
Farm raised seafood is a sustainable source of food that meets the ever-growing demand for seafood across or nation and around the world. Responsible aquaculture adheres to strict guidelines that do not adversely affect the surrounding ecosystem or damage native species. In order to keep seafood abundant and available for generations to come, we at Harris Teeter feel it is important to support sustainable practices.
