Harris Teeter Paid $367,204.87 To Our TIE Schools!
Now that the holidays are over, let’s get back into the swing of fundraising for your school(s). It is not too late to ask customers to link their VIC card to our TIE program. Get the message out there to your parents. Here are a few ideas to help spread the TIE message:
- Flyers and Newsletters - Mention TIE and your school code in your communications to parents
- School Website - Link directly to harristeeter.com
- Email - Send an email to your parents with a direct link to harristeeter.com or have them respond with their *VIC number and last name (*TIE Coordinators can link cards through Mass Link)
- Phone System - Utilize a service such as “OneCallNow”, send a message home to your parents reminding them to link their VIC card. What better time to remind parents than while they’re at home! They can log onto harristeeter.com and link immediately.
- Soliciting at your local Harris Teeter - Call your local store and schedule your time to solicit customers for TIE links to your school!

WE THINK GREEN!
Harris Teeter THINKS GREEN.... Wow! What a turnout of schools that participated in our We Think GREEN contest. The schools that collected the most plastic shopping bags from October 3rd through October 31st had a chance to win up to $1,000. We selected the top 3 schools in each of our Harris Teeter regions. Thanks to all of our schools who participated, we collected nearly 16 million plastic shopping bags during the month of October or over 300,000 pounds!

Recycling Fact: According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually. An estimated 12 million barrels of oil is required to make that many plastic bags.
