2013 DonationsHarris Teeter: A Premium Brand of Community Involvement

Harris Teeter believes that by giving back to our communities, we can build incredible neighborhoods for all of us. We see getting involved in our communities at the local store level and through corporate contributions as an important part of doing business. But more importantly, we want vibrant neighborhoods because that's where our associates and customers live.

For generations, Harris Teeter has made financial contributions to organizations to create a better quality of life in our neighborhoods. Each year, our Corporate Contributions Committee reviews thousands of requests and directs donations to make a positive impact for community groups. During our 2013 fiscal year, Harris Teeter donated more than $8.29 million to disaster relief agencies and non-profit organizations including local food banks, youth sports organizations, schools and United Way. In addition, Harris Teeter donated more than 5.72 million pounds of food to Feeding America throughout our marketing areas.

During Harris Teeter's fiscal year 2013, the Company also hosted four donation card campaigns to benefit five non-profit partners. The final donation card campaign of Harris Teeter's fiscal year 2013 benefited United Way and was held in conjunction with the Company's Associate Giving Program. The Associate Giving Program benefited United Way and other non-profit organizations.
