The Dr. Oz Effect - How Much is Too Much?
Created on 3/19/2013
You've likely watched the Dr. Oz Show. You may even be a regular viewer. If you fall into the latter category you have probably learned a great deal about how to stay healthy.
You may have acted upon what you learned.
You may also be somewhat overwhelmed.
I hear from a number of my patients who are daily viewers of the show that they feel as if they need to take too many supplements, make frequent alterations to their diets, change up their exercise routines, and more.
They have shared with me that this can get stressful.
Let's be fair - the show is not designed so that each episode's recommendations / options are meant to be additive - in other words, there's no program in place saying take what you learn Monday and apply it; then add Tuesday's info; followed by Wednesday, etc.
Sit back and take it in. Consider what might (emphasizing might) be good for you in your specific health circumstances. Choose 1-2 things to explore but please speak with your doctor first - just because something is natural does not mean it is safe in all circumstances.
It's been said that knowledge is power. In this instance, maybe the power to better care for yourself. Just keep in mind that general information shared with a wide viewing audience may not apply to you, which is why speaking with your doctor first is important, and that you need not change a lot in order to experience health benefits.
Sit back, and enjoy the show without adding unduly to your stress levels.
And be well.
