R's father has a pacemaker and she is concerned about his use of electrical appliances in the home, specifically his electric blanket. The American Heart Association's web site states that use of an electric blanket should not be a problem for most people with an artificial pacemaker, but some individuals may experience single beat interruptions when using household electrical devices.
Precautions about specific electrical devices can be found on the AHA's web site (see below).
In addition, if you or a loved one has an artificial placemaker, ALWAYS ask your cardiologist FIRST about what electrical devices you can and shouldn't use.

I hope this is of help, R! Happy holidays to you and your family (and I hope your dad stays warm).
