Thus, what's the benefit of organic produce?
Most data have suggested that both conventional and organic produce provide ample nutrients, that's not new - but organic foods are grown with fewer or no chemicals.

Local Honey for your Allergies?

Research into the potential health benefits of honey is in its infancy, but interest is growing.
Part of the reason for increased attention is evidence that honey may have antibacterial activity and may help skin wounds heal.
As far as allergies go, however, there is almost no medical literature on the subject. Some people swear by it, but it's extremely important to keep in mind that many people with allergies will also be allergic to honey!
Also, never give a child under one year of age honey.

Fast Food is Expensive

A recently published food study is getting a lot of buzz.
Researchers looked at the cost-per-calorie of fast (convenience) food as opposed to the cost of carefully chosen whole and healthy foods (purchased at the supermarket).
The cost of fast food was almost DOUBLE that of healthy food.
Plus, we all know that fast food isn’t good for you!
So you can eat well (and for less $) at home.

How Low Can You Go (Cholesterol)?

It's important to know your numbers, including cholesterol levels.
We all know how important it is to keep your "bad" (LDL) cholesterol levels low while keeping your "good" (HDL) cholesterol levels high.
Some research findings suggest that lowering total cholesterol levels too much can actually increase the risk of significant illness, even death. The majority of research supports the idea of "lower is better," at least when it comes to cholesterol levels, but too low may not be advantageous.
How low is too low? That's the problem - we're not sure. Your doctor can best advise you, but there are supportive data on both sides of the fence.
