The Common Cold and What to Do

It seems a lot of people are walking around with early spring colds - how can you avoid gettig one yourself?

When it comes to preventing colds our mothers were right, especially about washing your hands frequently. At least use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer throughout the day.

If you do get a cold, baby yourself by getting a little more rest than usual.

Hypothyroidism, or low thyroid hormone output, is very common especially among women.

The reason for high rates of hypothyroidism is as yet unknown, but the treatment is often relatively straightforward - provide needed thyroid hormone.

Maybe Vitamin D Can't Do Everything After All

Vitamin D seems like the "super vitamin" - it can help with almost anything, right?

Well, finally some data that suggest vitamin D can't cure everything...

A recent trial looking at women who took both calcium and low-dose vitamin D supplements over 5 years had similar changes in their cholesterol levels compared to women taking placebo pills.
