Harris Teeter Donates Lottery Incentive to Local Together in Education School
Mallard Creek Elementary PTA Attends Oct. 7 Event to Receive Donation

Matthews, N.C. – Oct. 7, 2013 – On Monday, Harris Teeter Store Manager Paul Miller presented $1,000 to a local school to support its commitment to educational programs.  The check presentation, which took place at the Harris Teeter located at Mallard Creek in Charlotte, N.C., was made possible by the North Carolina Education Lottery. Mallard Creek Elementary School PTA received $1,000.

Harris Teeter has donated to schools $20,000 in North Carolina Education Lottery incentive payments since establishing the incentive donation program in December 2011. The North Carolina Education Lottery offers incentive payments to retailers for selling winning tickets for the Carolina Cash 5 jackpot, and Harris Teeter donates incentive payments over $1,000 back to Together in Education schools.

Harris Teeter supports schools through its Together in Education program, and the North Carolina Education Lottery also raises funds for education.  Since February 1998, Harris Teeter has donated over $19.5 million to the Together in Education schools in District of Columbia and the eight southeastern states in which it operates stores.  Since March 2006, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.9 billion for education programs in the state.

“Harris Teeter has been a tremendous supporter of Mallard Creek Elementary School,” said Mrs. Natalie Lowe, M.Ed., M.S.A, Principal at Mallard Creek Elementary School. “Through their generous contribution, our students will benefit from much needed learning resources. We are appreciative of the Harris Teeter Together in Education initiative.”

“We applaud Harris Teeter for sharing its lottery incentive bonus with this deserving school,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We are fortunate to have this partnership, as every dollar we can raise with the lottery and every dollar Harris Teeter contributes through its Together in Education program truly makes a difference for students in our state.”
