Operation Medicine Drop

Harris Teeter to Serve as Location for Operation Medicine Drop

Charlotte, N.C. - Five Harris Teeter locations are serving as an Operation Medicine Drop location in April.  As part of Operation Medicine Drop, area law enforcement and safety partners provide Mecklenburg County residents an opportunity to properly dispose of old, unused, or outdated prescription medication in an environmentally and legally safe method. The program also brings awareness to the increasing trend of prescription drug poisonings as well as the risk of disposal into the local environment.

Five Harris Teeter locations listed below will serve as an Operation Medicine Drop site.  Harris Teeter pharmacists will not accept returned medications and all returns will be handled by local law enforcement or the safety partner.  Harris Teeter pharmacists, however, are available to speak with customers about questions they might have about Harris Teeter's pharmacy services including, among other things, the company's Generic Prescription Savings Club and online mobile refills.

For more information about Operation Medicine Drop, please contact Janice Williams, Director Carolinas Center for Injury Prevent, at 704-208-6428. Additional Operation Medicine Drop locations can be found on www.safekidscharmeck.org.
