Harris Teeter Together in Education Announces ‘We Think GREEN’ Results 
Students Collect over 7 Million Plastic Shopping Bags during Contest, Recycle them at Harris Teeter

Charlotte, N.C. – Students participating in Harris Teeter Together in Education’s (TIE) fourth “We Think GREEN” contest collected 8,100 bins or over 7.3 million plastic bags as part of the program and earned cash prizes for schools totaling $6,750.

The “We Think GREEN” contest was open to all TIE schools, and Harris Teeter encouraged children as well as their families to recycle plastic shopping bags to earn cash for their school.  The program ran February 1 through March 27, and five schools from each of Harris Teeter’s three regions collecting the most plastic bags earned a cash prize:
