Harris Teeter Announces $424,396 Distribution to Together in Education Schools
Company Continues to Show Support of Excellence in Education through its Together in Education Program
Charlotte, N.C. – Harris Teeter Together in Education (TIE) donated just over $424,396 to participating TIE schools during the second of three payouts of the 2011/2012 school year, raising the program total to $17,106,971 since 1998.
Harris Teeter established Together in Education to financially help schools in the communities in which its stores are located. Schools registered for a TIE code earn money when community members who link their VIC cards to a TIE code purchase Harris Teeter Brands or fill a prescription at a Harris Teeter pharmacy.
Harris Teeter does not earmark funds raised through Together in Education and schools use the dollars earned through the program in many ways. Hammond High in Columbia, Md. uses a portion of its TIE funds to support After Prom; Union Pines High School in Cameron, N.C. uses a portion of its TIE funds to provide college scholarships to students; East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, N.C. uses its TIE funds to assist with teacher grants; and James K Polk in Alexandria, Va. most recently purchased new playground equipment with the Together in Education dollars donated from Harris Teeter.
