Sisters, Harris Teeter Move to Fight Hunger in Charlotte-Area Community
Kelli and Micah Fagala Coordinate SOUPer Bowl Food Drive at Monroe Harris Teeter
Charlotte, N.C. - Harris Teeter is helping Kelli Fagala, 12, and her sister Micah, 11, 'give back to people who really need it’ during a food drive Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at your Union Square Harris Teeter in Monroe.
Harris Teeter, a strong advocate for hunger relief, has partnered with Feeding America agencies for decades and recently donated 8,000 holiday dinners to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina as part of its Harvest Feast campaign in November. The company’s shoppers also raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for its food bank partners during the campaign.
“When Kelli and Micah approached us needing a location for their 'SOUP'er Bowl Food Drive,” said Danna Jones, communication specialist for Harris Teeter, “it was an easy decision for our company to participate in the event.”
“The sisters coordinated every aspect of the food drive and also established a partnership with the non-profit Move for Hunger,” added Jones. “We are thrilled these two young ladies recognized Harris Teeter by inviting both our store and our generous shoppers to be a part of their worthy cause.”
Harris Teeter invites shoppers and media to stop-by the store and make a donation during the food drive. To launch the event, Harris Teeter will make a special presentation to show its support for the food drive.
