Mecklenburg County Boy Scouts Go SCOUTING FOR FOOD

Kicking off the Loaves & Fishes Food Drive Feb. 4 - 12
Charlotte, N.C. - Saturday, Feb. 4, the Mecklenburg County Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be Scouting for Food. Scouts will go door-to-door throughout Mecklenburg County collecting canned goods for Loaves & Fishes. Scouting for Food kicks off the annual Loaves & Fishes Food Drive which is being held Feb. 4-12.
Food donated during Scouting for Food and the Loaves & Fishes Food Drive will help feed neighbors in need in Mecklenburg County. Priority needs include canned meat, canned pastas, cereal, canned fruit and 100 percent fruit juice.
There are three ways to help…
1. VISIT any Mecklenburg County HARRIS TEETER Feb. 4-12
to donate non-perishable foods.
Food collection barrels will be located in all Mecklenburg County Harris Teeter stores.
2. SCOUTING FOR FOOD
Saturday, Feb. 4, Mecklenburg County Boy Scouts will go door-to-door to pick-up the Scouting for Food bags which were distributed throughout neighborhoods in Mecklenburg County. Community members are encouraged to fill the bags with non-perishable food items and leave outside their homes on Saturday, Feb. 4.
3. DROP-OFF FOOD DONATIONS AT ONE OF THESE LOCATIONS Feb. 4 and 5 as well as Feb. 11 and 12
Tractor Trailer Trucks will be collecting food at the following locations:
Arboretum Shopping Center – Providence & Highway 51, Charlotte, N.C.
Ada Jenkins Center – 212 Gamble St., Davidson, N.C.
Huntersville United Methodist Church (Feb. 4 only) – 14005 Stumptown Rd., Huntersville, N.C.
Mulberry Presbyterian Church – 5600 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, N.C.
Philadelphia Presbyterian Church – 11501 Bain School Rd. , Mint Hill, N.C.
Sharon United Methodist Church – 4411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, N.C.
St. Mark Catholic Church – 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, N.C.
Town Center Plaza – 8600 University City Blvd., Charlotte, N.C.
Trinity Presbyterian Church - 3115 Providence Road, Charlotte, N.C.
Volunteers will be on hand to collect donations or you may leave food donations in bins located under the trucks.
Harris Teeter donated 120,000 "Scouting for Food" grocery bags to help make this event possible.
