Harris Teeter Encourages Shoppers to Flex for the MDA and Fight Muscular Dystrophy
Purchase a $1 or $5 donation card in Harris Teeter stores during the month of March to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Charlotte, NC – Harris Teeter and its associates are campaigning now through March 31, 2011 to send children with neuromuscular disease to MDA summer camp. The company is making it easy for shoppers to get involved by selling $1 and $5 Make a Muscle donation cards at all 202 store locations and encourages its generous shoppers to help the MDA by participating in the donation card program.
For many children with muscular dystrophy, MDA summer camp is the ‘best week of the year,’ giving them the opportunity to take part in camp activities including swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, horseback riding and other fun adventures that they would not otherwise be able to experience.
It costs $1,600 to send two kids to MDA summer camp, and, with the help of our shoppers, Harris Teeter hopes to raise enough money during the donation card campaign to send 230 youngsters to summer camp at no cost to their families.
The MDA summer camp program began in 1955 with one camp and 16 campers and, each yea, MDA supports nearly 80 summer camps across the country
including those in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Tennessee.
Please purchase a $1 or $5 donation card this month at any Harris Teeter location and show your muscle to the MDA.
