Harris Teeter Together In Education Announces December Teachers of Excellence Winner
The company encourages principals to nominate their Teachers of Excellence for a chance to win the remaining seven cash rewards
Charlotte, NC – Teacher Nicole (Nikki) Martel of Greenbrier Intermediate School in Chesapeake, VA is $1,000 richer thanks to Harris Teeter Together in Education. Ms. Martel received Harris Teeter’s third Teachers of Excellence award presented during the 2010/2011 school year. Greenbrier Intermediate School also received a $1,000 check.
Ms. Martel is a third grade teacher at Greenbrier Intermediate School. She has 13 years of teaching experience and has been in her present position for the past seven years. According to former Principal Colleen C. Leary, Ms. Martel’s enthusiasm and positive attitude for reading and the instruction of reading has motivated students. Ms. Martel has been an inspiration to other teachers because of her consistent desire to learn and implement new and researched-based reading strategies in her class, and Harris Teeter would like to congratulate Ms. Martel for winning the company’s third Teachers of Excellence award given during the current school year.
To be eligible to participate in the Harris Teeter Together in Education Teachers of Excellence Award, a teacher must teach at a school that is registered with the Harris Teeter Together in Education program and the school principal or Together in Education coordinator must nominate the eligible faculty member. The school must have a minimum of 100 people linked to its TIE school code number. Harris Teeter Together in Education reviews all applications received and awards a total of ten Teachers of Excellence winners during the current school year, one per month starting in October and two each in April and May.
