Wolfgang Puck to Appear at the Annual Chef's Best Fundraiser

WHO: Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s Community Food Rescue Program, Harris Teeter, Campbell’s, the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute and the Charlotte Convention Center

WHAT: Tickets are on sale now for the 22nd Annual Chef’s Best Fundraiser. The event, featuring Wolfgang Puck, includes a reception by the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute followed by an elegant dinner prepared by some of the region’s finest chefs, including Gene Briggs from Blue Restaurant & Bar, Jim Noble from The King’s Kitchen and Tom Condron from The Liberty. The main course will be prepared by Wolfgang Puck. After dinner, enjoy a live auction with great restaurant, travel and sports packages. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased online at

WHY: The Community Food Rescue Program annually saves over three million pounds of food that would otherwise be thrown away.  Each day, perishable foods, including produce, deli, bakery and prepared are picked up and delivered completely free of charge to soup kitchens, shelters and other non-profit agencies that feed on site. Community Food Rescue is a program managed by Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Each year, the food bank provides nearly 650 non-profits in a 19 county region of North and South Carolina with almost 35 million pounds of food that is used to feed hungry people.

As part of Feeding America, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina – serves 19 counties in North and South Carolina.  In FY2009-2010, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina distributed over 33 million pounds of food and essential grocery items to nearly 650 hunger feeding agencies.  Agencies served include emergency pantries, soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters and low-income daycares.
