Harris Teeter Kicks Off Its Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign
Help the food bank in your community stock its shelves for hungry families
Charlotte, NC – Harris Teeter is a leader in the grocery industry and its main focus in the community is helping its food bank partners provide relief to food insecure households. The company donates both food and money to local hunger relief agencies throughout the year and, on Wednesday, October 27, will give community members an opportunity to do the same during its annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign.
Harris Teeter launched Harvest Feast in 2003 and, thanks to generous participation by thousands of community members, has donated nearly one million dollars to its food bank partners during the campaign, as well as hundreds of thousands of pounds of non-perishable food items.
Beginning on Wednesday, October 27, shoppers can once again get involved in Harvest Feast at all Harris Teeters stores. To make it easy for customers to participate in the fight against hunger, Harris Teeter cashiers will sell $5 and $20 Harvest Feast donation cards. The company will also accept donations of non-perishable products in collection bins in its lobbies from October 27 - November 30.
“Harris Teeter is committed to ending hunger in the communities it serves,” said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter. “Our shoppers have proven their generosity in the past and, by giving them an opportunity to donate, I know we will be able to make a difference this holiday season.”
With just $5, Feeding America helps provide 35 meals to men, women and children who would otherwise go hungry. Harris Teeter encourages all of its shoppers to participate in the campaign by purchasing a donation card or donating product to help Feeding America provide relief to those struggling to put food on the table. All monies and product donated with stay in the local community.
The company would also like to thank its media partners WRAL-TV, WRAL-FM, WBTV, WRFX, WCSC-TV, WTKR, and WILM for assisting with promotion of the food drive.
