Harris Teeter Encourages Schools to Get Active in Together in Education

Learn how easy it is for schools to earn money through Together in Education

Together in Education logoCharlotte, NC – In honor of Read Across America Day, Harris Teeter is taking time to share information with its shoppers about Harris Teeter Together in Education (TIE) and to encourage them to be a part of a program that has supported schools grades k-12 and education since it launched in 1998.

What is TIE?  TIE is a program through which Harris Teeter shoppers can raise money for the school(s) of their choice by purchasing Harris Teeter brand products or filling a prescription in a Harris Teeter Pharmacy.  Just how much money can be raised?  There is no limit; since 1998, the company has donated over $13.3 million to participating schools.

Schools or any organization within a school can apply for a four-digit Together in Education code.  The school or organization encourages community members to link their Very Important Customer (VIC) card to the four digit code; a VIC card can be linked up to five codes.  From the moment a card is linked, every time a customer purchases Harris Teeter’s Own Brand products from August – May, they help raise money for the school to which their card is linked!  Customers must re-link their cards every August.

The Together in Education team also hosts a variety of bonus programs to help schools raise additional money: Teachers of Excellence, Sing My Jingle, and We Think Green, to name a few.

There are 4,612 Together in Education schools; the top earning school made over $13,000 last year.
