The start of the 2008/2009 school year signaled the beginning of Harris Teeter’s 11th year in Together in Education (TIE). It also signified the 2nd year in which Harris Teeter will honor and award dedicated teachers through its Teachers of Excellence Award program.
Harris Teeter realizes our schools would not be successful without the hard work of our teachers. The company established Teachers of Excellence to provide public recognition and financial rewards to teachers who are committed to furthering excellence in education. Teachers of Excellence winners receive a cash reward in the amount of $1,000, and a $1,000 cash prize will also be given to the teacher’s school. A winner will be selected each month during the 2008/2009 school year, with 2 winners being selected during April and May. A total of ten winners will be announced during the school year.
We are honored and privileged to announce our March Teacher of Excellence winner. Martha Abernathy, a kindergarten teacher at Barringer Academic Center in Charlotte, NC is the March Teachers of Excellence award winner! Martha has taught for over 15 years and is an active member of the Charlotte community. She is part of the Positive Behavior Intervention Support Team and an active member of the PTA.
