Harris Teeter Supports Area Youth at the North Carolina Junior Livestock Auction
The company purchased over $46,000 worth of livestock and the money goes back in the pockets of the young winners.

Harris Teeter donated over $46,000 to grand champion winners at the North Carolina State Fair Junior Livestock Auction, Saturday, October 18th.  Harris Teeter placed the winning bids on the Grand Champion steer, lamb, barrow and turkey.

Harris Teeter is proud to support the sale of champions at the junior livestock expo.  “The money raised goes back to the children showing the animals, rewards them for their hard work and perseverance, and helps toward their future education,” said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter.

The grand champion steer, raised by Taylor Ridling of Salisbury, NC brought $24,000 at the auction, the grand champion barrow, shown by Wyatt Scott from Lucama, NC brought in $8,500, the grand champion lamb raised by Alyson Moore from Selma, NC brought $7,000 and the grand champion turkey, shown by Garrett See of Raleigh, NC went for $6,600 at the auction.
 
Harris Teeter is committed to helping eliminate hunger in the communities we serve. The protein from the livestock auction will sold and the dollars will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC.
