It is about as American as apple pie… Or blueberry pie, or cherry pie or strawberry pie… Independence Day is a time to commemorate the history and traditions of the United States and this 4th of July Harris Teeter decided to honor the occasion by celebrating with nothing other than apple pies and our military men and woman in Fort Bragg, NC.
Harris Teeter’s Central Region team coordinated a one-week pie drive leading-up to Fort Bragg’s 4th of July celebration. The company called upon generous customers in its Central Region stores to participate in the campaign. Shoppers were asked if they would like to purchase a donation card that allowed them to donate one pie to the campaign. The drive was an overwhelming success and culminates this Friday when Harris Teeter associates will distribute over 1,250 pies (10,000 slices of pie) to the military men and woman who attend Fort Bragg’s Independence Day celebration. The remaining 15,000 pies will be donated frozen to Fort Bragg, and Harris Teeter will work with the base to distribute the pies as directed by Fort Bragg.

Harris Teeter strives to maintain deep ties between itself and the community it serves and the company wants to thanks our shoppers for their overwhelming response to the pie drive. Harris Teeter realizes the relationship between itself and its shoppers is a long term proposition; the pie drive along with our other fundraising campaigns would not be a success without their support.
