Chase Holfelder from Cary, NC recorded the my harris teeter jingle in a professional studio and was featured in a Harris Teeter Commercial
Charlotte, NC Harris Teeter held its annual my harris teeter jingle contest during the month of February. For the second year in a row entries poured in. Shoppers showed off their talent by singing the Harris Teeter jingle to see if they had what it takes to be a star.
A team of judges reviewed all entries before coming to a unanimous decision and announcing Chase Holfelder as the winner. Chase moved to Cary, North Carolina with his family from Long Island when he was nine. He attended UNC Wilmington and is currently living in Charlotte.

With no formal voice training, Chase has been singing since his parents bought a karaoke machine when he was seven. To help develop his amazing talent he started a band in high school and in college. He is currently the primary songwriter, singer, and guitarist with his band The Mile After.
“When I sang the my harris teeter jingle on the guitar it sounded too much like the original, so I decided to modernize it by playing it on the piano,” says Chase. His creativity and hard work has paid off. Chase took home $10,000 in the my harris teeter jingle contest.
In April, he recorded the jingle in a professional studio and stared in a Harris Teeter commercial which aired during the season finale of American Idol. Chase is keeping a pretty busy schedule. Later this month, he and his band will be going to Los Angeles to record an album.
Chase is being smart with his winnings and planning for the future by putting the money into savings. “$10,000 is a big chunk of change for a 22 year old. I love North Carolina and some day I would like to buy a house in Wilmington” said Chase.
The my harris teeter jingle contest is an extension of the my harris teeter campaign developed during the fall of 2005. The lyrics of the jingle reflect the ownership shoppers take in Harris Teeter; the way they refer to Harris Teeter stores as “my harris teeter,” and to associates as “my store manager,” “my pharmacists,” and so on.
Harris Teeter is proud to show off a new member of its family, Mr. Chase Holfelder, the my harris teeter jingle winner. As the song says “It’s the little things by far, it’s the people that make us who we are”.
