Charlotte, NC - Harris Teeter is proud to announce a record year for its Together in Education (TIE) Program. Parents and supporters earned $1,491,862 during the 2006-2007 school year. TIE was developed in 1998 and since its inception $9,774 ,709 has been donated to schools throughout the seven states Harris Teeter serves.
What does this mean for area schools? It means, when they return from summer vacation they will have money for new books, playground equipment, musical instruments, field trips, teacher workshops, scholarships and other items that don't fit into area schools ever shrinking budgets. Schools distribute the funds how they see fit. Many schools focus giving on their athletic booster clubs, their PTA, the band, and other extra-curricular activities.
Each year, during the month of June, Harris Teeter sends checks to schools that are linked to the Together in Education program. The growing popularity of the TIE program is amazing and Harris Teeter looks f orward to increasing the number of schools linked to the program and providing additional students and teachers with the supplies they need.
"Harris Teeter customers are committed to the education of children in their communities. The TIE program gives them an easy way to ensure a better quality of life for their children and it is simple," notes Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter.
Customers sign up with their VIC card and when they purchase Harris Teeter brand products, a percentage of those purchase dollars goes to the schools of their choice.
Don't forget supporters must link their VIC cards again beginning on August 1st, 2007 for the upcoming school year. Everyone can link their card whether they have a child in school or not and each card can be linked to up to 5 different schools. Schools are encouraging everyone they know to get linked and help achieve another record year of donations.
Harris Teeter is proud of its efforts to support area schools and encourages everyone to link their VIC card to their school and "be a part of the solution."
