Harris Teeter Donates over $18,000 to the City of Charleston Fire Department to Assist the Families of Local Heroes

Charlotte, NC – On June 22, Harris Teeter launched its in-store campaign giving shoppers and associates an opportunity to donate to the City of Charleston Firemen’s Fund. This fund was established to assist the families who lost their loved ones in the recent Sofa Super Store fire.

Harris Teeter made it easy to make a donation by selling $1.00 and $5.00 dona tion cards at its registers in all Charleston area stores.

"The generosity of our shoppers and associates speaks volumes," said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter. "We gave them a way to assist the families of the dedicated firefighters, who lost their lives and in just two-weeks they were able to raise over $13,000," added Morganthall

In addition to the in-store campaign Harris Teeter made a corporate contribution of $5,000. Which means this week, Harris Teeter will be cutting a check for over $18,000 to the City of Charleston Firemens fund, including the corporate donation and one-hundred percent of dollars collected in-store.

Harris Teeter has a long history of supporting the communities they serve and is humbled by the opportunity to support the City of Charleston during this tragic time. Together we will continue to honor the heroic lives, bravery and courage that the nine firefighters shared with the community.
