Harris Teeter's Shamrocks Against Dystrophy Campaign raises over $60,000 for MDA
Thanks to customer and associate support those living with neuromuscular disease will have a brighter future

On February 13th, Harris Teeter once again teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to kick off its annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign. All 138 Harris Teeter stores sold green shamrocks for $1 and gold shamrocks for $5, through St. Patrick's Day, March 17th.

"Harris Teeter wants to help give local families living with neuromuscular disease a chance for better medical treatment, faster diagnosis, and continued physical and emotional support through the network of local clinics," said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter.

Funds raised will help provide health care services free of charge to local families including; assistance with purchase of medical equipment, wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices, clinical visits, diagnostic testing, and a week of fun for children at nine area MDA summer camps.

“Every year, through participation in the program, Harris Teeter shows how much they care about ‘Jerry’s Kids,’” said Charlotte MDA District Director, Theresa Miller.  “We are proud to have Harris Teeter as a partner in the fight against neuromuscular disease.”

Harris Teeter and MDA have been partners in helping local families fight against neuromuscular disease for 8 years. Funds raised by Harris Teeter in the annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign and through corporate donations have totaled over $435,000 to date.

Harris Teeter would like to thank its customers for supporting this campaign. In the last eleven weeks our customers have helped raise over $382,000 for non-profit organizations striving to make a difference in their neighborhoods and around the world.
