Harris Teeter makes the holiday's brighter for local schools
Together in Education donations climb to over $5.5 million

Charlotte, NC - The holidays offer each of us an opportunity to reflect upon the past year and reach out to the less fortunate in our communities.  It is important to remember that many area schools struggle daily to secure the needs of their students.  Schools are having to make choices between books, playground equipment, band uniforms, field trips, teacher workshops, scholarships and other items that don't fit into the ever shrinking budgets of area schools.

Over 143,000 parents and supporters are taking advantage of Harris Teeter's Together in Education (TIE) program.  Their VIC card links allowed Harris Teeter to mail $287,440 to schools in its first scheduled TIE contribution of the year.   This week a total of 408 checks went out to 172 cities and 40 counties throughout the six states Harris Teeter serves.

It isn't to late for customers to participate in TIE and it is easy.  Customers sign up with their VIC card and when they purchase Harris Teeter brand products, a percentage of those purchase dollars goes to the schools of their choice.  Shoppers simply link the school of their choice to their VIC card. Families can link up to five schools from preschool through 12th grade and Harris Teeter will evenly distribute the money across the different school accounts.

Harris Teeter is proud of our efforts to support area schools and encourages everyone to link their VIC card to their school and “be a part of the solution.”
