Schools out but the money is rolling in thanks to Harris Teeter
2003-2004 Together in Education donations total over $1.1 million
Harris Teeter is proud to announce a record year for its Together in Education (TIE) Program. Parents and supporters earned $1,185,605 during the 2003-2004 school year. TIE was developed in 1998 and since its inception over $5 million has been donated to schools throughout the six states Harris Teeter serves.

What does this mean for area schools? It means, when they return from summer vacation they will have money for new books, playground equipment, musical instruments, field trips, teacher workshops, scholarships and other items that don't fit into area schools ever shrinking budgets.

This week Harris Teeter sent 2,261 checks to schools in 258 cities. The growing popularity of the TIE programming is amazing. Schools distribute the funds how they see fit. Many schools focus giving on their athletic booster clubs, their PTA, the band, and other extra-curricular activities.

"Harris Teeter customers are committed to the education of children in their communities. The TIE program gives them an easy way to ensure a better quality of life for their children and it is simple," notes Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter.

Customers sign up with their VIC card and when they purchase Harris Teeter brand products, a percentage of those purchase dollars go to the schools of their choice.

Don't forget supporters must link their VIC cards again beginning on August 1st, 2004 for the upcoming school year. Everyone can link their card whether they have a child in school or not and each card can be linked to up to 5 different schools. Schools are encouraging everyone they know to get linked and help achieve another record year of donations.

Harris Teeter is proud of our efforts to support area schools and encourages everyone to link their VIC card to their school and "be a part of the solution."
