Local Schools Open Checks This Holiday Season
Together in Education program has biggest quarterly pay out EVER!
Charlotte, NC – With more customers linking their VIC cards to their school than ever before, Harris Teeter mailed out 377 checks totaling $241,271 to local schools just in time for the Holidays.

Schools in 63 cities received checks bringing the current total given back to schools through our Together In Education (TIE) program to $4,398,772.

"Our TIE program is definitely catching on," says Harris Teeter President, Fred Morganthall. "We have the highest number of customers in the program's history linked to their local schools and the result is our biggest quarterly pay out to date," he adds.

Hopewell High School PTSA moved to the top of our fundraising list this quarter with nearly 800 parents linked to their school. They raised $4,166.02 in the first quarter. How did they do it? Cindy Chewning, President of the Hopewell High PTSA says the secret was "getting the word out early and having a very enthusiastic group of parents willing to make it work. We are very excited that Harris Teeter offered us the opportunity to motivate our parents and raise money for our school." The money earned will go towards fulfilling their teacher wish lists throughout the year. "We're putting all the money right back into the classroom," Chewning adds.

How does Together In Education work? Customers sign up with their VIC card and when they purchase Harris Teeter brand products, a percentage of those purchase dollars goes to the schools of their choice. Shoppers simply link the school of their choice to their VIC card. Families can link up to five schools from preschool through 12th grade and Harris Teeter will evenly distribute the money across the different school accounts. It's not too late. Schools encourage everyone they know to get linked and help the children in their communities.
