Harris Teeter in collaboration with the Inter Faith Food Shuttle, Capital Broadcast, and the City of Raleigh, kicked off this year's Harvest Feast Food Drive yesterday in Raleigh, NC. The event at the Raleigh Convention Center fed over 3,317 individuals and families in the Raleigh area. Everyone enjoyed a free holiday-style meal, family entertainment, and fellowship with their neighbors in need.
Harris Teeter President, Fred Morganthall was joined by United Way CEO, Craig Chancellor, and 270 community volunteers who came together to serve people at risk of hunger in the Raleigh area a free holiday-style meal.
"This has been a day of volunteerism at it's finest - neighbors helping neighbors," said Chancellor. Adding, "Everyone pitched in to make this event a huge success for families that are struggling to make ends meet."
"Combating hunger in our community has been a top priority for Harris Teeter since we opened our doors," said Morganthall. "This event marked the beginning of our Harvest Feast Food Drive going on in all of our stores. We invite shoppers to help stock their local food banks - because the need is so great during the holidays."
All items donated will stay in the community and food banks from all over the Southeast will benefit from the Harris Teeter Harvest Feast Food Drive.
