Harris Teeter and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina are excited to bring the Kids Café to the Johnston and Harris YMCAs. Combating hunger in our community has always been a priority for Harris Teeter and the Kids Café program accomplishes just that. The program is specifically designed to serve meals to children at risk for hunger. Kids at the both Johnston YMCA in uptown Charlotte and the Harris YMCA in Pineville will now be provided with highly nutritious snacks and meals.
The YMCA of Greater Charlotte, The Carolina Youth Commission, New Life 91.9 and Chick-fil-A are co-hosting The Stars Come Out At Night concert this Saturday, August 16, at Cricket Arena. Harris Teeter will present $15,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina at an invitation-only reception, scheduled from 4 - 5 p.m.
Kids Café is a nationally acclaimed after-school tutoring and feeding program for children at risk of going hungry, established by America's Second Harvest, the national network of food banks. They will also learn more about the Kids Café and the importance of good nutrition. Metrolina's program provides low-income children with one-on-one tutoring, nutrition education, recreation, social skill building, and hot, nutritious meals.
The kids attending the reception will have the opportunity to meet pro athletes and the Christian musicians performing that evening. The Stars Come Out at Night concert, which starts at 6pm and is open to the public will feature Mercy Me, Natalie Grant, Anointed and Freddie Colloca. Tickets are on sale now at Cricket Arena, Charlotte Coliseum and Ticket Master.
