Harris Teeter and Minute Maid Donate to Camp Care

Over $16,000 raised in Easter promotion helps kids all summer.

Charlotte, NC - Harris Teeter and Minute Maid presented a check for $16,014.60 to Camp C.A.R.E. (Cancer Ain't Really the End). Camp CARE was formed in 1985 by a group of health care professionals. They provide over 100 campers a year with the chance to be like everyone else at their own summer camp, a chance to get away from the realities of living with cancer, and a chance to share their thoughts with other children like themselves.

This donation was the result of an Easter promotion that Minute Maid ran with Harris Teeter. In addition to cosponsoring the Jefferson Pilot Easter Eggstravaganza, Harris Teeter and Minute Maid agreed to donate $.05 for each purchase of Minute Maid juice products during the month of April. The result is over $16,000!

"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Minute Maid and Harris Teeter for making a difference in the lives of the children at Camp CARE. They were thrilled to meet the people responsible for helping fund their carefree week away from hospitals and doctors," said Phil St. Martin, Chairman of the Board.

The philosophy of Camp CARE is that a child with cancer is, first of all, a child. A child, like all children, needs laughter, friends and fresh air. These are the very things Camp CARE can provide.
