4th Annual Wesley Walls Invitational Golf Tournament raises $90,000 for local charities

Charlotte, NC - The 4th Annual Wesley Walls Invitational Golf Tournament was held on June 16th at the Tournament Players Club at Piper Glen.

The event raised $90,000 for local charities. Walls presented a check to the Children's Miracle Network for $45,000 and Harris Teeter's President, Fred Morganthall and Bette Thomas from Coca-Cola presented the United Way a check for $45,000 as well.

Celebrities came from all around to help lend a hand to raise money for kids in need throughout Charlotte. Michael Waltrip even volunteered to drive a much slower vehicle than he's used to while he played 18 holes with Walls yesterday.

"Harris Teeter and Coca-Cola selected the United Way and the Children's Miracle Network because we know the money gets to the families who really need it," said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter. "Community involvement is extremely important to Harris Teeter and to Coca Cola, and we are proud to be able to give back to Charlotte charities."

Harris Teeter and Coca-Cola would like to say a special thank you to the all the athletes that participated in Monday's event. They gave of their time to help kids right here in our area: Dell Curry, Spud Webb, Steve Beuerlein, and Mike "Scooter" McGruder, Casey Moore, Vinny Ciurciu, Ben Coats, Jarrod Cooper, Thabiti Davis, Mike Delaney, Kevin Donnalley, Ken Flagel, Lonnie Galloway, Jerrome Henderson, Brad Hoover, Anthony Johnson, Deems May, Pete Metzelaars, Kemp Rasmusen, Eugene Robinson, Steve Smith, Dean Wells, Will Witherspoon, Shane Graham, Perry Tuttle, Al Woods, Shane Burton, and future Hall of Famer - Joe DeLamielleure.
