Harris Teeter to Reopen Charlottesville Store Wednesday, January 22, 2003!

Charlotte, NC - The Harris Teeter in Charlottesville, VA will reopen Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 8:00am. Harris Teeter and store manager Jason Delaurier would like to thank the residents of Charlottesville for their patience. We have big savings in store for Wednesday to show our appreciation.

Harris Teeter promises the best in quality – to that end – the entire contents of the store are being replaced. Shoppers will have their pick of the freshest produce, meat, and seafood beginning Wednesday morning. It's business as usual at Harris Teeter!

The entire Harris Teeter family would like to extend our gratitude to Deputy Chief Werner and the responding fire departments for their dedication and service to their community: Charlottesville Fire Department, Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Company, Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department, Monticello Fire Rescue, Albemarle County Fire & Rescue Department, East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Department, Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad, Charlottesville Police Department, Stony Point Fire Department, Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department, and the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department.

To show our appreciation Harris Teeter is donating $5,000 worth of gift cards to these fire departments to be distributed to the charities of their choice.

We are also donating an additional $5,000 to the Emergency Food Bank serving Charlottesville and Albemarle. All contents of the store suffered from fire, smoke, and water damage and were removed. Harris Teeter did not feel that the damaged products were suitable for donation. "We believe that a cash contribution will allow the Emergency Food Bank to purchase quality food and other items that can help serve their immediate needs," said company spokesperson, Tara Stewart.

Mary Haas, with the Emergency Food bank was excited to hear about the donation, "we can definitely put this contribution to good use," she said.

Again, Harris Teeter appreciates the residents of Charlottesville and their patience and we look forward to serving them again beginning Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 8:00am.
