Harris Teeter Gives Record Amount to Schools
Together in Education program donates record amounts for first quarter
CHARLOTTE, NC, Jan. 17, 2002 --- Harris Teeter's Together in Education program has donated record amounts to schools across its marketing areas. A total of $351,945 was earned in the first quarter – that's an increase of almost 82% over last year's first quarter donation.

"Over 80 cities have earned in the first quarter what they earned in the entire year last year," said Fred Morganthall, president of Harris Teeter. "We're on target to meet our goal of giving $1 million to schools this year."

After three years of operation, Harris Teeter's Together In Education (TIE) Program has donated almost $2.4 million in cash grants to schools in the Company's six-state marketing area. In the 2000-2001 school year, TIE generated $625,492 in cash grants.
