Department Manager Trainee
The first step in becoming an incredible Department Manager will be as a Department Manager Trainee. This program prepares individuals for the duties and responsibilities of a Department Manager in a Harris Teeter store. The program requires an individual to learn every function within their assigned department as well as the skills necessary to successfully lead their associates.
Once placed as a Department Manager, you can expand your knowledge further through on the job experience. When learning first hand about our business, these are some brief examples you will experience. In the Technical training phase you will learn the job skills necessary to work in your specific department (whether in Fresh Foods Deli/Bakery or the Meat/Seafood department).
You will experience everything from serving the customer to performing the everyday functions of the department. In the Soft Skill training phase you will learn how to deal with people, stress and change. Personal development is an important part of being an effective and successful leader.
